What is "Computadores para Educar"?

It is the ICT Ministry program with the greatest social impact that generates equity through Information Technology and Communications, enhancing the quality of education on a sustainable model.

Is an association between the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications, the Ministry of National Education, the ICT Fund and the National Service for Training SENA, it promotes ICT as a factor for  equitable and sustainable development in Colombia.

Makes ICT accessible to educational communities, especially in public educational centers of the country, by providing computers and training teachers for maximum use.

This work is done in an environmentally responsible manner, being a benchmark for the usage of electronic waste in the public sector institutions of Latin America.

Mission

“Computers para Educar” is an association of public agencies, which creates development opportunities for Colombian children and youngsters, improving the quality of education through the provision of technology tools, training and support to educational communities and environmental management of obsolete computer equipment.

Vision

In 2014 “Computadores para Educar”, as an integral and sustainable strategy has allowed that 100% of public educational centers have access to terminals for connectivity and an access average ratio of 12 children per computer, driving the sustainability of infrastructure and educational appropriation for educational quality and rational environmental management within the framework of Plan Vive Digital and the Educational Quality Policy, thus contributing to the prosperity of the country.

Crucially important goals "Computadores para Educar" in 2014

 

  • CIG 1 Deliver more than 500,000 terminals to more than 14,000 beneficiaries locations such as educational centers, libraries and cultural centers.
  • CIG 2 Train 60,000 teachers in public educational sites, 150,000 people in the community and 4,000 users of libraries and cultural centers in graduate diploma courses for pedagogical use of ICT.
  • CIG 3 Retake 400 tons of electronic waste and process 850 tons of this waste, to help preserve the environment.
  • CIG 4 Consolidate “Computadores para Educar” as a flexible comprehensive, sustainable, coordinated strategy, the most efficient one in the public sector, committed to generating development opportunities for Colombian children and youngsters.
